The Crossing's 'Sound From The Bench' Is a 2018 Pulitzer Prize Finalist

Composer Ted Hearne is a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music, for his five-movement cantata Sound From The Bench, a co-commission by The Crossing and Volti.

The piece was recorded and released by The Crossing on Cantaloupe Records in March 2017, and raises oblique questions about the crosscurrents of power through excerpts from sources as diverse as Supreme Court rulings and ventriloquism textbooks.

Another Crossing collaborator, composer Michael Gilbertson was also named a 2018 Finalist for his Quartet. The winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music is rapper Kendrick Lamar for his album DAMN.
