This program features classics from heavy weight composers of the 20th Century John Cage and Steve Reich as well as new music from So and friends. 24x24 gets the audience involved in the sound making, selections from Where (we) Live allows for a guest performer from the area and Needles is new music written for acoustic and electronic cactus.
Equipment in a nutshell
This program needs a bit of amplification for the cactus music. In addition to the equipment So will travel with, the biggest percussion needs are 12 drums, a vibraphone and several tray tables for equipment.

Notes on the program
This program features music made in a variety of ways: from traditional drum sets to homemade instruments out of steel pipes, wooden slats and flowerpots to amplified tuning forks. The composers featured also span a variety of eras and styles, including the pullitzer prize winning composers Steve Reich and David Lang as well as drummer/composer Glenn Kotche from the renowned rock band Wilco and rising style Oscar Bettison.
Equipment in a nutshell
A PA (or 2 keyboard amps) are necessary to amplify the tuning forks and for audio playback. In addition to the equipment So will travel with, the biggest requirement is four drum sets, several tray tables for equipment and preferably four brake drums.

Notes on the program
This program features music by 3 heavy weight composers of the last 30 years and music from group member Jason Treuting. Much of the music can be accompanied by video, including new pieces by David Lang written for the documentary, “The Woodmans.” Amid the Noise gives the audience an opportunity to play along by supplying the noise. The 2nd half feature, It is Time, is a new masterpiece for percussion quartet and explores different ways to look at time in a mini concerto featuring steel drums, marimba, drum set, multi-percussion set-up and musical saw.
Equipment in a nutshell
In addition to the equipment So will be traveling with, a five octave marimba, drum set and vibraphone are necessary. Some sound reinforcement through an onstage amplifier or PA will be necessary. Video projection is preferred.
