That was back in January of 1988. I was idly poking around in the film archives of New York's...The Origin is a multimedia oratorio in celebration of the life and work of Charles Darwin, one of the world's greatest and most influential thinkers. Scored for soloists, chorus, orchestra, a female Balkan vocal group, and video projections; the piece centers upon the making of Darwin's masterwork: The Origin of Species.
As its libretto, The Origin uses texts drawn exclusively from Darwin's deeply eloquent writing. Some of the texts are autobiographical, such as Darwin's private notes on the...Founded in 1997 by Baroque scholar and harpsichordist Andrea Marcon, the Venice Baroque Orchestra is recognized as one of Europe&rsquo;s premier ensembles devoted to period instrument performance.
