The U.S. premiere of Termon, a new work by Irish composer Mícheál Ó Suilleabháin commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 will be among the many works played by Ireland's Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) on its 8-venue tour which starts October 24th as part of Imagine Ireland, Culture Ireland's year of Irish arts in America.

The composer Steven Mackey marks his Irish début with a world première, a joint commission by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin and the Fields, and the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (University of Notre Dame), of his new work, Concerto for Solo Violin, Electric Guitar and String Orchestra. The world premiere of Steven Mackey's work will be performed by the Irish Chamber Orchestra in Limerick on October 29 and then in Cork and Dublin on the 30th and 31st with Anthony Marwood on violin, and the composer playing guitar. Together, they will perform the US premiere in Notre Dame, Indiana on November 8th.

Designed by Project Architects in collaboration with specialist acousticians AWN Consulting, the gleaming new block on the college's north campus incorporates a state-of-the-art rehearsal room, an instrument storeroom and a musicians' common room as well as office accommodation for the orchestra's administrative team.
